Class 6 of the English department at Vasa Övningsskola in Vasa have for eleven years in a row made a trip to Great Rollright CE Primary School in Oxfordshire, England as an exchange program with the students of same age in Oxford also coming to Vasa.

The students, parents and teachers concerned have actively collected money for the trip to England by selling assorted products, organizing lotteries, and discos and a lot of other things throughout the years. This time around we decided to do something different, and this is it!

We are organizing a Black and White Night at Ritz to support the 6th graders’ twelfth trip to England. During this night we are going to screen three short silent movies by “The Great Stone Face” Buster Keaton. Ralf Nyqvist has composed a custom soundtrack on piano for the movies and is going to perform it LIVE!

We will have all sorts of Black and White activities and a convenient mingly break after the second movie. There will among other things be a B&W candystand, a B&W lottery and such, so bring cash for these activities!

Tickets for the event will be sold by the children of 5th and 6th grade of the English Department in Vasa Övningsskola, by Kristian in iris optikko, Hartman House and by Studio Ticket, Rewell Center. Admission wil be 16€ for adults (18 years and up) and 10€ for children (0-17 years) when bought in advance, and 18€/12€ at the door during the event.

Wentus Blues Band är ett av Nordens främsta bluesband och har turnerat i 17 olika länder, släppt 10 album, gjort flera TV-program, och turnerat med många stora bluespersonligheter. Räkna med explosiv och frenetisk ”rhythm and blues”, spelad med avspänd elegans. Efter stort 30 årsjubileumsår är de nu tillbaka med pinfärskt album. Med sig denna gång har de legenden  Roffe Wikström.

Med en nästan 50-årig karriär omfattandes ett 30-tal egna album och mer än 6 000 konserter är Roffe Wikström Sveriges okrönte blueskung. Som ende svensk och enda artist överhuvudtaget som inte sjunger på engelska är han med i the Virgins Blues Encyclopaedia. Han har fått flera guldskivor för sina album, fått varje pris och utmärkelse som det är möjligt att få i Sverige. Hans sånger finns översatta och inspelade på engelska, danska, norska och finska.


Suomalainen Wentus Blues Band vietti taannoin 30 vuotisjuhliaan ja on nyt palannut tien päälle uuden levyn kera. Wentus Blues Band on tuonut Suomeen vuosien varrella koko joukon kansainvälisiä bluestähtiä ja esiintynyt heidän taustayhtyeenään.  Näin myös nyt kun Suomeen saadaan vihdoinkin kymmenien vuosien tauon jälkeen legendaarinen ruotsalainen ROFFE WIKSTRÖM.

Roffe on yksi Ruotsin tunnetuimpia bluesartisteja ja kitaristeja. Ruotsin blueskuninkaaksi kutsuttu Wikström ryhtyi päätoimiseksi muusikoksi 1970-luvun puolivälissä, ja hänen tuotantoonsa kuuluu pääasiassa alkuvoimaista bluesia ja rhythm and bluesia, Wikström on ainoa muulla kuin englannin kielellä laulava artisti joka on esitelty blues-tietosanakirjassa The Virgin Encyclopedia of the Blues

Born 1954 in Melbourne, Australia, Johnny Logan moved to Ireland with his family aged three. Barely twelve years old, Sean Patrick Michael Sherrard Johnny Logans birth name – accompanied his father, the famous tenor Patrick O’Hagan, on tours in Australia and New Zealand. There he and his father found themselves killing time by singing together in the dressing rooms of the great concert halls. This period had a tremendous influence on Johnny Logan, encouraging him to become a musician as well. By the time he was thirteen he had learned to play the guitar and had started writing songs. The rest is music history.
